Remains of the Day: China Blocks Access to Almost All Google ServicesChina bans most of Google's services, Surface users are having trouble with their Touch Covers, there's an iPhone 5 screen glitch, and AT&T is having a huge sale for all tablets purchased with a plan.

  • Chinese government blocks Google.com, Gmail, Google+, Maps, Docs, Analytics, Drive, more The Chinese government has blocked access to all of Google's sites and services at a time that coincides with the Communist Party of China's 18th Party Congress. For the moment, it seems the only way for Chinese citizens to get to Google websites is via another domain such as google.co.uk. No word on whether the censorship will cease when the Congress ends.   • Surface users report Touch Cover splits and audio issues Some Surface RT users have had issues with audio stuttering and fraying edges of their Touch Covers exposing wires. Microsoft has looked into the audio issue, but have not yet been able to reproduce the audio problem. They are, however, sending new Touch Covers out to affected users free of charge. [The Verge]
  • iPhone 5, iPod touch 5 touchscreens responding oddly to multiple, rapid diagonal swipes iPhone 5 users are noticing what could be a hardware defect in the phone's touch screen, causing it to stutter or freeze in response to rapid diagonal swiping.   • AT&T offering $100 discount on all tablets with 2-year agreement While supplies last, AT&T will be offering a $100 discount on all of it's cellular-enabled tablets, provided that you sign up for a two-year contract. It appears to be open to both new and current customers. [TalkAndroid]
  • Now playing in a country near you (for real this time) Google Play's music and movie library will now be available to some European Google TV customers starting today. Those in the UK, France, and Germany get access today, with other countries to be announced November 13th. [Google TV Blog]
  • Facebook testing new notification sounds - we hate it already Facebook is currently testing notification sounds with a small number of users. That means a ping for every like, comment, and share, and depending on how you use the service, it could be quite frequent. [VentureBeat]
  • Facebook Also Testing Comment Replies A reader tipped us off to another Facebook feature test?this time for comment replies. If implemented, direct replies to a comment would be listed under that comment, allowing for a clearer hierarchy and a more threadlike structure. [Twitter]
